What is the minimum depth for a Steelflex Modular Expansion Joints?

Steelflex Modular Expansion Joint systems are highly engineered and comprised of dynamic load bearing center beams, welded to multiple support bars and cast-in-place into an expansion joint.

D.S. Brown’s engineering team is equipped to be flexible with our Modular Joint depths. Our standard modular joint depth is 12 1/8", though we can easily adjust these depths to 11" and 10 1/8" with a price increase. At a premium, we can supply joints shallower than 10 1/8" to about 8 3/4" fairly comfortably (requiring some additional engineering) and less than 8 3/4" to about 7 1/2" (requiring extensive engineering).

Movement

Steelflex Modular Expansion Joint Systems allow from 4 to 28.35 inches of longitudinal movement and a maximum of +/- .79 inches of transverse displacement.

Testing

Steelflex Modular Expansion Joint systems are fatigue tested and designed and certified by the American Institute of Construction. Applications include highway bridges and parking garages.
