# Does D.S. Brown provide tabs, hardware, bars, etc. for lifting and lowering the modular joints into the blockouts?
## Steelflex® Modular Expansion Joint Systems are highly engineered assemblies which consist of Steelflex® centerbeams and edge beams. Centerbeams and edge beams carry the dynamic wheel loads and also accept the strip seal style sealing elements.
**D.S. Brown typically uses high strength straps at each of the modular joint lift points (shown on the joint plan views) to raise/lower the joints as needed for handling (no tabs, hardware, bars, etc. for lifting are incorporated or supplied). For modular joints with formwork attached, our shop will notch openings in the forming plates at each of the lift points and loop the straps through. Notches will remain for contractor's use but will need to be covered prior to concrete pour.**

**Modular Joint Adjustment Device**: The [modular joint adjustment device](https://www.dsbrown.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/B_EJS_Modular-Joint-Adjustment-Device_v011.pdf) is a tool designed to aid in opening and closing modular joints during the joint installation process. The modular joint adjustment device was designed to allow easy access for the hydraulic cylinder that helps aid with the movement of the modular joints into the open or closed position.
**Strip-Sealer Tool**: The [D.S. Brown Strip-Sealer™](https://dsbrown.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/B_EJS_StripSealerTool_INSTALL_v006.pdf) is a hand-held pneumatic strip seal installation tool designed to aid users in installing D.S. Brown strip seal with L2 and A2R lugs. The Strip-Sealer™ tool must be cleaned and oiled daily. It is best to clean excess lubricant adhesive from the installation tip and tool body immediately after every use. Read the entire owner’s manual and all manufacturer’s instructions before beginning installation.
