# Can a laminated bearing be bonded to a plate that has headed studs already welded to the plate?
## Versiflex™ Elastomeric Bearing Assemblies are molded neoprene or natural rubber pads used for isolating and supporting structures or equipment.
**Answer:** Elastomeric bearings are vulcanized to plates in a press under extreme pressures. Plates with studs would interfere with the vulcanizing process and so the practice is to weld studs post-vulcanizing. An alternative would be to epoxy bond the elastomeric bearing to a studded plate.
